Adventure and relaxation rolled into one. That’s the Puning Tour experience. Begin with the 4×4 off road fun and be amazed with the wonderful scenery. Dip in the hot springs with 13 pools to choose from. Bury yourself under hot sand and cool down with a mud pack.

Puning Hot Spring and Restaurant is a unique destination I’m glad I went to. This is usually included in the tour packages offered in Clark Freeport Zone and Porac Town in Pampanga Province. You can also choose to go straight to Puning for their day tour.

Everything begins at Base Camp or what they call Station 1. This is located in Barangay Sapang Bato, Angeles City in Pampanga, and just 10 minutes away from Clark Freeport Zone. Here, you will have to pay and sign the registration form. Station 1 looks like a beautiful garden. It’s best to begin the activity at 8am to be able to make it back for the lunch buffet.

From Station 1, you have the option to go to Station 2 (sand spa and mud pack) or go straight to Station 3 (hot spring). I recommend you go to Station 3 first when the cool morning breeze can still be enjoyed. The hot spring may not be too fun during the warm noontime. Both Stations 2 and 3 are located in Porac, Pampanga, Station 1 is in Angeles, Pampanga.

To get to Station 3, you’ll have to ride the 4×4 jeep. Get ready for a bumpy ride. Don’t do this with a heavy tummy, just eat a very light breakfast because this ride will make you bounce and bump on the rocky road…and you know what that can do to your tummy.

It’s more fun to stand on the jeep while holding the metal bars tightly. The 4×4 leaps on boulders and splashes through rivers. But that’s not all. The view is totally amazing. It’s like you’re going inside a mountain and passing through it to reveal a world made of gigantic sand sculptures. This activity though is limited during daytime only and is not available when it’s raining for the safety of the tourists.

After about 20 minutes, you’ll arrive at Station 3, the hot springs. The landscape is fantastic. There are different levels for you to choose from, way up high, or just down below. There are 11 hot pools, 2 warm pools, cottages, and shower areas. Puning provides shirts and shorts for guests. I recommend you dip your feet first to help your body slowly adjust to the temperature. The warm water relaxes and soothes the muscles.

When you’re done, you can change into dry clothes. And, hop back on the jeep to go to Station 2.

At Station 2, you’ll have to change into what they call a gown (shirt and shorts). There’s a big area full of sand for the Sand Steam activity. They dig a spot for you. You lay down and they put sand on you. The sand actually felt heavy. Everything was warm. Under the sand area’s a furnace or an enclosed chamber to produce heat. I was sweating because of the heat and my face was dripping but I couldn’t wipe it with my arms under the sand. The therapists know this, so every now and then, they’d wipe sweat off my face. They also massage you by gently stepping on your legs and arms to apply pressure.

After the Sand Steam, they help you stand back up. They brush off the sand on your body, but not all, because some sand will be used later. You’ll have to take a few steps to go to their mud pack area. The mud mixture will be applied to your face and body. It felt cold on my skin. It’s mixed with the remaining sand on your body, and while the therapist massages you, the sand helps exfoliate dead skin cells.

Allow the mud to dry. After a few minutes, head for the shower. You’re skin will feel new. But this isn’t the end of the experience.

All that will get you hungry. Head back to base camp where the lunch buffet awaits.

Hi, Carlo how are you? This is nice and beautiful place to visit and relax. This is similar to Hidden Valley Resort in Cabuyao, Laguna. There are many tall trees that are at least 100 years old aside from the water springs. I went there in 2000 with my fellow professors at De La Salle University. I wish that I will visit to that resort later also. Have a nice day always. Thanks for posting.

Do they have parking area for private cars before the 4×4 jeepney ride?
