The Great Adventure (The Carlo Lorenzo Story: Part 4)

God Gives the Best Version of My Dream.

My finances dwindled and when I almost got broke in 2010, I received a call to temporarily host the program Diyos at Bayan which aired at GMA 7 and Light TV 33 . The program hosts Bro. Eddie Villanueva and Ms. Kata Inocencio were running for public office, and they were prohibited from hosting shows during the campaign period until the May 2010 elections.

APRIL152010 (2)

After the elections, my hosting stint got extended to seven months more, enough time for me to completely pay my loan. When I was already debt-free, Bro. Eddie and Ms. Kata returned to the show in December 2010. I believe that God orchestrated everything.

I was happy and content. But God wasn’t finished.

Birth of I Love Pinas.

In 2011, I was offered to host solo my very own show I Love Pinas which I have until today! He fulfilled my dream!

God asked me to resign from my previous job so that I could empty my hands from what I was holding on to. When my hands were finally freed, I was able to receive His bigger blessing and this is the best version of my dream!!!

Wow, my own show! Not just that, I get to travel and experience so many new and wonderful things around the country.

The Test.

A year after having the time of my life enjoying this dream come true, I noticed changes in the out-of-town shoot schedules. It took more days before I could go back to Manila. I had to skip church services. I also had to look for substitutes to give talks assigned to me. Something was wrong. The original boundaries I set were being broken. I asked myself, “Is this job a blessing or a temptation?”

Had it been the old me, I wouldn’t have budged. I would’ve went along whatever schedule came my way. After all, this is my dream and the old me would’ve made this the priority.

But God already gave me a new spirit and a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26-27). I’ve changed. If my dream job is a tool to take me away from my God, I knew what had to be done. Been there, done that. I was actually surprised seeing the new me respond to this scenario.

I told my boss about my sentiments. Though I love my job as a travel show host, I love my God even more. This helps me sustain a healthy detachment from things here on earth.

There it was. The answer. “I Love Pinas” is a blessing after all. My boss understood me and the schedule was adjusted. My Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays will permanently be blocked off. This gave way for me to attend church service every Sunday, prepare for UP Campus Feast every Monday and serve every Tuesday at the UP Campus Feast. During semestral breaks, summer breaks and holidays, my Mondays and Tuesdays are still devoted for UP Campus Feast. For team building, fellowship, planning, the works.

I don’t have to resign after all. I can still continue exploring the different tourist destinations and experience the unique local activities in different parts of the country and share it to the world!

Holding On to Permanence.

The blessings in life that I enjoy now are temporary. God may take them away. It’s okay. What matters most to me now is that I am holding on to the only One that is permanent, the Blessing-Giver: GOD.

Bro. Carlo I saw you sa Lucban noong Pahiyas 2012. Muntik na kitang tawagin buti na-relaize ko hindi mo naman ako kilala. Haha. I know kasi worship leader ka sa PICC and napapanood din kita sa Preacher in Blue Jeans. In the near future, kapag may work na ako, I will read again your story to be reminded that God is my Boss. He’s my number 1 priority in every decision. Thank you Bro!
